Ultra-consistent Australian javelin thrower Kim Mickle has produced a ninth straight podium finish, further consolidating her medal prospects for next month's world championships in Moscow.

Mickle's best throw of 62.38m at the Spitzen Leichtathletik meeting in Lucerne was good enough for third place in a high-quality field.

London Olympics bronze medallist Linda Stahl from Germany claimed the victory with 65.24m.

Mickle sits in sixth spot on the world rankings and has produced six throws beyond the 62m mark this year.

"It was another good series," said the 29-year-old West Australian.

"The first two throws were like a shake-out and then I got my rhythm.

"I didn't nail any of them but I was still very consistent at the 61m and 62m marks."

Fellow Australian Kathryn Mitchell was sixth with a season's best effort of 61.11m.

Mickle's final competition before the August 10-18 world titles in Moscow will be at next weekend's Diamond League meet in London.

"Going into a big block of training at the level I am at shows what could happen in Moscow," she said.

"I couldn't have asked for a better preparation."
