Australian javelin thrower Kim Mickle has forced her way into world title calculations with a personal best performance to win the silver medal at the Diamond League meeting in Paris.
The Western Australian capped a series of impressive throws with a new best of 64.35 metres with her final attempt to finish second behind Germany's Olympic silver medallist Christina Obergfoll (64.74m) on Saturday night.
"I'm rapt," she said.
"To be honest I wanted more. I felt incredible out there.
"The 63s I hit consistently were actually 66-plus throws. They just went out a bit wonky."
Mickle was delighted at the prospect of going to next month's world championships in Moscow rated among the leading contenders.
"It's kind of cool," she said.
"Worlds is a long way away though.
"I have time to have another block of training. Every time I have another block I get better."
Mickle's personal best throw took her past London Olympian Kathryn Mitchell into third place on the Australian all-time list.
Continuing her comeback from the injury which ruled her out of the domestic season, Mitchell managed a throw of 60.86m in the opening round to place fourth in Paris.
