Braian Toledo wins Pan Am Junior Championships

On the second day of the Pan American Junior Championships over the weekend (22-24) at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida, Braian Toledo of Argentina won the men's javelin throw with 76.40 meters, a new championship record. Cody Parker of Canada took second place and Paulo Da Silva of Brazil was third.

Winning this competition was the most important goal for Toledo this season, who had been preparing in a training center in Formia (Italy) in the last few weeks with his coach Gustavo Osorio.

The athletes on the Pan Am Junior Championships had excellent results, with five throwers over 70 meters. Toledo took the lead on the first attempt (76.09) and followed with 73.67, 76.40, 75.67, 74.85 and 71.19. The silver medal went to Canadian Cody Parker who threw 73.50 and Brazilian Paulo Henrique da Silva Ales took the bronze with 72.25m. Chilean Guerra Tomas was fourth with 70.97m, closing in on the record of his country, ahead of Raymond Dykstra of Canada (70.12m).

Toledo's 76.40m result was his second best throw ever with the 800g implement behind his national junior record of 76.70m achieved on 5th of March in Buenos Aires.
