There was impressive throwing on the final day of the
European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon, Turkey, with Ukrainian
javelin thrower Yuriy Kushniruk setting a European best of 83.42m on
Friday.
Only one boy, Argentina’s Braian Toledo, has ever thrown further with a 700gm implement.
The
previous European best was 83.02m by Russia’s Valeriy Jordan in 2009
and Kushniruk’s own personal best was 77.10m set when finishing fourth
at the World Youth Championships in the French city of Lille earlier
this month.
Finland’s Sebastian Teikari finished a distant second in Trabzon with 75.43m.
