Katharina Molitor gathered in all the accolades with a brilliant javelin display at the Spitzenleichtathletik in Luzern on Sunday 12 July.

The German thrower produced the performance of her life to win at this European Athletics Outdoor Classic meeting as she broke her near-four year old personal best - and then for good measure did it again.

Molitor, who was sixth in the Olympic Games in London in 2012, entered this event on Tuesday night with her personal best of 64.67m from 24 2011.

But in the first round she launched the javelin 65.40m and then, with her final effort, stretched that mark to 66.40m.
Not only was it her greatest throw, it was a meeting record and took her to the top of the European Athletics' rankings as well as being the fourth best in the world this year.

And as she achieved this fine win, it was quite a cast behind her in two of her teammates, with 2010 European champion Linda Stahl second with 64.65m and world champion Christina Obergfoll third with 59.51m.
