Trinidad and Tobago Olympic gold medallist Keshorn Walcott is focused on doing well for his country in next year's World Championships in Moscow, Russia in August.

The 19-year-old javelin thrower, who whipped the field at the 2012 London Games with a 84.58-metre effort, copped four out of the five awards for which he was nominated at Friday night's Spirit of Sport Awards at Queen's Hall, and told the media in a brief interview afterwards that he was looking forward to the season ahead.

According to Walcott, the reality of his achievements have now sunk in, and he is looking ahead to 2013.

"I am coming to terms with what I have accomplished and I am looking towards the future," he said.

Walcott crossed the Queen's Hall stage four times for Breakthrough Athlete of the Year, Consistent Performer of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year and Sport Performance of the Year honours, after he snared the World Junior Championships title in his discipline prior to the 2012 Olympics.

"London was an experience on the whole. Just going out there and competing for the country was great. Not much expectation was in the air, so accomplishing what I did, it was great knowing that I was not under any pressure," the country's second Olympic gold medallist recalled.

For the new year, Walcott said there were a few meets he wants to compete in as he builds up towards the World Championships.

"There are some meets in Europe before the World Championships, so I am going to use all those meets as warm-up or practice for the World Championships, but 2013 is all about Russia," he insisted, before the interview was cut short, as everyone wanted to share a moment with T&T's golden boy.
